Nokian Hakka Black's new Nordic Intelligent UHP Silica wear compound has been developed specifically for demanding use and high speeds. The new rubber compound performs optimally in the northern summer and is not afraid of extreme temperature fluctuations. In fact, the rubber compound offers excellent wet grip, whether it's a rainy, cool morning in the early spring or a scorching mid-summer afternoon. With Hakka Black, the driving experience is unexpected and stable no matter what the conditions.
The new tyre's tread pattern is also designed to optimise manoeuvrability and road feel in all conditions. As with previous tyres in the Hakka family, the Nokia Hakka Black features an asymmetric inside-outside surface pattern. Wide stripes connect the pattern blocks of the surface pattern, making the tyre stable and reducing the movement of the pattern blocks in road contact.
Nokian Hakka Black also introduces Hydro Grooves, an innovation that stores water between the tread and the tyre and directs it into the deep diagonal grooves that dominate the longitudinal ribs of the inner tread. Hydro Grooves, together with deep grooves shaped into the transverse main grooves, effectively counteract water displacement and ensure that a stable driving feel is maintained even in rainy weather. The Nokian Hakka Black also provides reliable driving comfort on weaker roads.

A revised groove depth gauge provides additional safety. The DSI Driving Safety Indicator, already familiar from previous Nokian products, has been refined to make the tread of the Nokian Hakka Black even more user-friendly. Both the droplet symbol indicating the risk of water penetration and the numbers indicating the groove depth have now been translated to match the viewing direction of the consumer examining his tyres. The groove depth gauge indicates the number of millimetres of tread remaining and the associated drop symbol indicates the risk of water transfer. The drop symbol disappears at four millimetres, indicating an increased risk of water transfer and the need for new tyres.
